I'm Xavier Valois-Smith, and I'm here to help you learn the guitar!
Learning to play the guitar can be a daunting challenge. You see your favorite guitarists playing away, and they make it seem to easy - but when you sit down with your guitar, all that ease goes out the window, and you get stuck. Getting stuck gets you discouraged, and so you stop learning. I'm here to help you fix that!
I’ve drawn from my own 7 years of experience of learning, playing, and teaching the guitar.
Teaching myself to play the guitar was a long journey of trial and eroor - figuring out what worked, what didn't, what was important, and what was not, was by far the most dificult aspect of the journey. In these free lessons, I have combined the most essential concepts you need to learn and practice to advance quickly in your guitar-playing journey. Lesson 1: Monkey With A Guitar
In lessons one, we go over the very basics of guitar anatomy, and quickly get you practicing your first 4 chords, and strumming your first strumming patterns. We also go over the musical alphabet, and the basics of rhythm.

Lesson 2: Getting Comfortable
In lesson two, we go deeper into the concepts we covered in lesson one, and start introducing some new chords, strumming patterns, and get you started with fingerstyle guitar. This will help you leaarn to play your favorite songs as quickly as possible!
